The study is led by a diverse team of Directors with broad expertise in HIV research in women and reproductive health, including leadership experience managing large cohort studies.

Data Management: STAR Data Management and Analysis Core (DMAC)
The Data Analysis and Management Core (DMAC), led by Directors Drs. Elizabeth F. Topper and Daniel Westreich, is located at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. The DMAC supports all aspects of data collection, reporting, and statistical analysis for STAR, and works closely with the Scientific and Administrative Core on all aspects of study coordination. The DMAC also designs and maintains the study databases and provides centralized data management, as well as data management training for personnel at the clinical sites.
Scientific Administrative Core (SAC)
The Scientific Administrative Core (SAC), led by MPIs Drs. Maria L. Alcaide and Anandi Sheth is located at the University of Miami. STAR will be coordinated by the SAC to support an executive committee, scientific leadership group, and advisory groups, will integrate with its cores/projects, and will provide mentorship to ESIs.
Community Engagement and Implementation Core (CEIC)
The Community Engagement and Implementation Core (CEIC), led by Directors Drs. Aadia Rana, Deborah Jones, and Seble Kassaye, is located at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The CEIC is responsible for coordinating national and local community advisory board activities, advising site community outreach, community dissemination, and supporting ESIs and research projects.
