MACS Scientific Contributions

Having published over 1300 publications, the MACS has made significant contributions to understanding the science of HIV, the AIDS epidemic, and the effects of therapy. Many of these MACS publications have guided Public Health Policy.

MACS Dossier

A compendium of slides to illustrate the MACS study design and provide a description of the cohort. Many of the slides include a reference. For more detail, please direct your attention to this reference in the MACS Archives.

MACS Forms
  • Administrative Forms

Administrative forms help data management and coordination: data transferred between sites and the data center; proposed research using MACS data and specimens; participants consent for use of specimens.

  • Data Collection Forms

Instruments used to collect data from the participants at each visit (including baseline and follow-up) and continuously to capture specific events (including an AIDS, cancer or other reportable diagnosis, death or seroconversion).

  • NIH AIDS Research and Reference Reagent Program

To request lymphoblastic cell lines, the NIH AIDS Research and Reference Reagent Program requires all investigators to be registered prior to receiving samples.

MACS Manuscript Templates

Includes the following:

  • HAART definition
  • MACS acknowledgement
  • Alternative acknowledgement
  • Links to author's instructions for specific journals

MACS Public Data Set

MACS data for public use permits access to the MACS data to a wide range of scientists and in particular to statisticians and mathematical modelers who would like to use these data to illustrate their different methodological approaches.
